Calendula Oil

Aggiornamento: 1 giu 2021

CALENDULA (Calendula officinalis) oleolite - balsamic time: summer period until early autumn; parts used: flowers.

Calendula acts specifically on the skin, with a strong soothing and protective action, but at the same time it is delicate, so much so that it can also be used by mothers on the sensitive skin of babies. It also counteracts the fissures that can form in the breast during breastfeeding. To prepare the Calendula oil, macerate 100 grams of dried flowers in a dark glass jar with 500 ml of sweet almond oil, or extra virgin olive oil if you prefer. When the container is full, close it hermetically and store for about 1 month in a cool and dark place, turning the container every two days to avoid the formation of mold. After a month, take a piece of gauze and empty the container, filtering the Calendula oil by squeezing it well. If you want, you can filter it a second time with another gauze, which makes a more pure oil by eliminating all residues. The best way to store your oil is always in a dark glass bottle, in a cool place away from sunlight.
